Learning: The Discovery of the Possible

"Learning is the discovery that something is possible." - Fritz Perls

Around this time two years ago, I tried something I didn't really think I can do. But one rainy afternoon in school, after work hours and after deciding that I'd rather try this for the next few hours than watch Fringe or House, while waiting for someone to pick me up, I did this:

"Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

And then a few days later, this:

"Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her,
still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings." - Victor Hugo

Up until then, I didn't think I could draw. What I felt then, must be what it feels like for the children everyday when they discover, "Hey, I can do this!"

Quite fortuitously, it's been what, two years since that first "attempt at art" and today, I need motivation. Last year, I opened my own Montessori pre-school, and while the first school year was successful albeit, a whirlwind; I count two more days to the start of the school year 2012-2013 and I need to be able to say, "Hey, I can do this!"

There's real learning everyday, both for the children I have in class, and for me. And I'm back in this site to tell you more about them, and to learn from my friends here as well.

  1. they are lovely, I especially like the flowers.
My goal for the year was to step out of my comfort zone at every change I had and I have had so many 'I can do this moments' and not one I regretted...yet!
